Free Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 Bundle for PS Plus Subscribers Sparks Controversy

A complimentary Season 2 bundle for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is now available, granting PlayStation Plus subscribers access to two operator skins, three weapon blueprints, double XP tokens, and more. However, this exclusive offer is limited to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players with an active PS Plus subscription.

This PS Plus exclusive bundle has raised eyebrows among fans, given Activision's acquisition by Microsoft. The $68.7 billion deal, finalized in October 2023, marked the largest acquisition in video game history.  With Activision now under Microsoft's wing, numerous titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, have become accessible on Xbox Game Pass.  Despite this shift, PS Plus users continue to receive exclusive Call of Duty perks, a year after the acquisition.

A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 bundle arrived on the PlayStation Store on February 4th.  This free bundle, exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers, offers a variety of in-game items, including two operator skins, three weapon blueprints, two animated emotes, a weapon charm, a weapon reticle, an emblem, a background, two stickers, and two double XP and weapon XP tokens (1 hour each).  To redeem, players must have an active PS Plus subscription and visit the bundle's store page. While the content is added to the user's Call of Duty account, the bundle is not cross-platform compatible.

Some Black Ops 6 players are expressing disappointment with the new bundle.  The included operator skins were previously available in paid bundles, breaking the tradition of PS Plus exclusives featuring unique cosmetics.  Reddit user Nedtheshred commented, "Wow, the one pack I spent money on is now free, fantastic work."  Another user, That_Wet_Banana69, echoed the sentiment, stating, "Only skin I paid for too…. frustrating."  Many also questioned the absence of a similar offering for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, deeming the situation "stupid."

With rising prices for Black Ops 6 bundles, player frustration over Activision re-releasing previously paid content is understandable.  Standard bundles typically cost between 2,000 and 2,400 COD Points. A leaked upcoming bundle priced at 3,300 COD Points would be the most expensive in Call of Duty history, further escalating community concerns regarding pricing practices.
