Southern California has been grappling with devastating wildfires since January 7, leading to tragic loss of life and widespread evacuations.  Among the organizations stepping up to aid relief efforts is Activision, the publisher behind the Call of Duty franchise.

Activision announced a new downloadable content (DLC) pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, with 100% of the proceeds dedicated to supporting those affected by the fires.  The funds will be distributed to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization.

Critical Role has also paused their streaming schedule, postponing the climax of their Bells Hells campaign to allow both their team and fans affected by the Los Angeles fires time to recover.

Players who purchase the LA Fire Relief DLC will receive a special in-game skin as a token of their contribution. This comes after Activision's announcement of reduced content for Warzone Season 2, making this DLC a welcome surprise for fans eager for new in-game items while supporting a worthy cause.

In addition to the DLC initiative, Activision has pledged a $1 million direct donation to wildfire relief. By offering the DLC, the company empowers players to actively participate in the relief efforts, potentially generating substantial funds for those impacted by the disaster.

While Black Ops 6 has experienced a decline in players since its October 2024 release, its combined reach with Warzone still holds significant potential for fundraising. The Call of Duty community's collective contribution could make a considerable difference.

This isn't the first time the gaming industry has rallied behind a cause.  The sector demonstrated its collective power by raising over $200 million for Ukraine following the Russian invasion.  Now, with California facing this crisis, companies like Activision and Sony, alongside their vast player bases, are stepping up to provide crucial support to the affected region.
