Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Bans Over 136,000 Cheaters, Prepares for Season 2 Anti-Cheat Enhancements

Treyarch has taken decisive action against cheaters in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, banning over 136,000 accounts since the introduction of Ranked Play. This news comes as a welcome relief to legitimate players who have been frustrated by the pervasive cheating problem.

The developer reaffirmed its commitment to combating cheating, stating that it's 'not slowing down' in its efforts to ensure fair play for everyone.  The focus on account-based bans, rather than IP bans, is intended to avoid penalizing innocent players in shared network environments like college campuses or internet cafes.

In addition to the ban wave, Treyarch outlined a roadmap for future anti-cheat upgrades. Season 2, launching on January 28th, will introduce new client and server-side detection systems, along with a novel tampering detection system.  These measures aim to further deter cheating and improve the overall player experience.

Looking ahead to Season 3 and beyond, Treyarch has even more ambitious anti-cheat technology in development. This includes a brand-new system designed to authenticate legitimate players and more effectively target cheaters.  While details remain scarce to avoid tipping off cheat developers, Treyarch assures players that they are actively working on long-term solutions.

The upcoming Season 2 will also bring new content to revitalize the game and hopefully re-engage players.  This aligns with the seasonal model of previous Call of Duty titles, promising ongoing updates and additions throughout 2025.
