Treyarch Studios has teased exciting content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2, launching January 28th.  A classic submachine gun (SMG) is making a comeback, sparking speculation among fans about its identity.  Many believe the returning weapon is the popular MP40, featured in previous Call of Duty titles like World at War, Black Ops 6, WWII, and Vanguard.

Season 2 promises a wealth of new content for both Black Ops 6 and Warzone.  Details are limited, but Treyarch revealed the next Zombies map, 'The Tomb,' on January 15th.  Following Season 1 Reloaded's 'Citadelle des Morts,' this new map features an excavation site where Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya search for the Sentinel Artifact.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Directed Mode has proven a significant success within the Zombies community, as confirmed by Activision.

Alongside the new Zombies map reveal, Treyarch teased the return of an 'iconic' SMG in their blog post, stating it's 'coming along for the ride.'  While mentioned in the context of Zombies, any new weapon will likely be available in Multiplayer and Warzone as well.  Besides the MP40, other potential candidates include the Tommy Gun (M1927) and the PPSH, both staples in previous Call of Duty games and the Zombies mode.

A full reveal of the returning SMG is anticipated before Season 2's launch, meaning fans should know soon what firepower awaits.  With the update less than two weeks away, anticipation is building.

While Zombies players have much to look forward to, Warzone players hope for substantial improvements in Season 2.  Since Black Ops 6's October 2024 release, Call of Duty's player count has decreased on Steam.  Reasons for this decline are varied, but many attribute it to persistent hacking problems in Warzone and Black Ops 6's Ranked Play, compounded by server issues, bugs, and glitches.  Season 2 needs to address these issues to win back players.
