Official promotional material for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 confirms the comeback of two beloved weapons: the PPSH-41 submachine gun and the FN FAL assault rifle.  The new season, launching on January 28th, promises a wealth of new content, bug fixes, quality-of-life updates, and more.

Treyarch Studios previously teased the return of an 'iconic' submachine gun alongside the reveal of the new Zombies map, The Tomb.  While speculation pointed towards the MP40, the promotional images solidify the PPSH-41 as the returning SMG.

Rumors are circulating about the potential return of the DMZ extraction mode in Call of Duty 2026, initially introduced in Modern Warfare 2 (2022).

Images released on the official Call of Duty Twitter account showcase three operators in Vondel. Two of the operators are wielding the returning weapons: the FN FAL and the PPSH-41.  While their exact availability within Season 2 (launch or mid-season update) remains unconfirmed, their presence is certain.

Season 2 is crucial for Call of Duty, especially given the recent player count decline on Steam.  Since Black Ops 6's October launch, the game has lost over half of its Steam player base, potentially due to prevalent cheating issues in Ranked Play, particularly impacting Warzone.

Activision aims to tackle these concerns in Season 2, prioritizing gameplay improvements and bug fixes.  Black Ops 6 will receive features like challenge tracking, updated player collision, new maps and modes. Warzone, while receiving fewer content additions, will focus on enhanced gameplay and stability.
